Starting today from 9am to 3pm the Granville Island Farmer’s Market will be in Triangle Square (between the Market, The Net Loft and La Baguette & l’Échalote) every Thursday until late October.

Move for Health Day May 10 at Creekside Community Recreation Center

Move for Health Day is tomorrow, Friday May 10th 2013, at the Creekside Community Center. This is a free event geared to elementary school age children. Sportball, Dance Pl3y, Yoga 4 Heart N Soul will all be there to “encourage all kids to make physical activity a priority by finding fun and interesting ways to keep active!”

  • Dance Pl3y is a physical activity program that uses a fusion of DANCE, MOVEMENT, and PLAY to inspire kids to get interactive and develop confidence.
  • Sportball Multi-Sport programs introduce children to the fundamental concepts and skills behind eight popular ball sports.

This Weekend at Legacy Liquor: Gin and Wine

It’s another busy weekend at the Legacy Liquor Store in the Olympic Village. They get started this afternoon at 4 with a Mission Hill Reserve Wine Tasting at the tasting bar.

Also today is a visit from the Hayman’s Gin Brand Ambassador. Head down to Legacy in the premium spirits lounge from 4-7pm and learn all there is to know about this UK spirit while sampling their London Dry and Sloe Gin.

Lastly is a Kendall-Jackson wine tasting from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Sundau Apr 14, 2013. Head to the Legacy Tasting Bar and taste these wines from the hillsides of Sonoma County.

Iron Bartender Competition AND Whiskey Masterclass At Legacy Liquor

On the same day even! This coming Tuesday is jam-packed with great events at Legacy Liquor Store in the Olympic Village. First up is the Giffard Iron Bartender Cocktail Competition, a free event from 1 to 5PM. Watch twelve bartenders duke it out for top spot and the right to compete in Angers, France at the international finals of the Giffard Cocktail Competition. The feature liquor is Giffard Menthe Pastille and competitors will be judged according to current CPBA standards.

Later the Old Malt Cask Whisky Masterclass is less about competition and more about learning the history of a true Scottish treasure. Sample Tomatin 21yr old, Glencadam 21yr old, Speyside’s Finest 17yr old, Caol Ila 7yr old, Macduff 10yr old and Glen Grant 18yr old of the Old Malt Whisky line-up. While Bob Kyle fresh from Glasgow discusses the history of these vatted malts from 7 to 9PM. Tickets are $40 and you can buy your tickets here.

CelticFest Vancouver Kicks of this Weekend with the Second Annual Celts on the Creek

Tomorrow, Saturday March 9th, the Celts will be marching into the Plaza in the Village on the False Creek. Celts on the Creek is a fun, free, family friendly event.

There will be food, music and more. Performers will include The North Shore Celtic Ensemble, SwingReel, Blackthorn and Vagabonds.

The event runs from 12- 5 so you can go dragon boating and then head right over the Celts on the Creek.
